August 2024 | President's Update

Dear Colleagues,

As I step into the role of President of the Central California Psychiatric Society, I am both honored and excited to embark on this journey with all of you. It is a privilege to serve this distinguished community of psychiatrists, and I am eager to work alongside you as we continue to advance our mission of promoting excellence in psychiatric care and supporting the well-being of our patients.

Before we look forward, I want to take a moment to extend my deepest gratitude to our outgoing president, Dr. Abdolreza Saadabadi. His dedication and commitment have set a high standard for us all, and we are profoundly grateful for his contributions.

I would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Paul Yoder and his team at the California State Association of Psychiatrists. We are deeply appreciative of their continued efforts to help shape policy and ensure that our voices are heard at the state level.

I am thrilled to announce that our Annual Meeting is only several months away! Please mark March 28th to 30th, 2025, on your calendars and join us for what promises to be an engaging and insightful event in Sacramento, California. Our Continuing Medical Education committee is working hard to plan a meeting that will offer valuable continuing medical education opportunities and foster meaningful discussions on current topics in psychiatry.

Our society thrives on the participation and enthusiasm of its members. If you know colleagues or peers who are not yet members, I encourage you to invite them to join our community. Their involvement can bring new perspectives and ideas, enriching our society and our collective efforts.

We are pleased to offer a special opportunity for residents and early career psychiatrists. If you are interested in attending the American Psychiatric Association’s State Advocacy Conference, please reach out to Chris Stockton at cstockton@pesc.com by August 15th, 2024. The Central California Psychiatric Society will cover the registration fees for two interested participants. This is a great chance to engage in important advocacy work and gain valuable insights into the legislative process affecting our field.

We value your feedback and are always here to listen. If you have any concerns, suggestions, or comments, please do not hesitate to reach out to myself or Chris Stockton at cstockton@pesc.com. Your input is invaluable as we strive to enhance our support to better meet your needs.
