Deputy Assembly Representative
Dr. Ranjit Padhy is a Board-certified Psychiatrist trained in General as well as Child/Adolescent Psychiatry; currently working as Medical Director of Behavioral Health Inpatient Unit (Adult) at Kern Medical, Bakersfield, CA after serving as Associate Training Director of General Psychiatry for many years. He is also a Clinical / Teaching Faculty of David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA (Behavioral Sciences) as well as UCLA-Kern Medical Psychiatry Residency Program.
In addition to direct patient care and active teaching, Dr Padhy has special interest in System Based Advancement (developing and implementing EMR) and improving System Based Education and Services (Integrated approach in relation to various Agencies, Prevention of Med-Psych Recidivism). He has been awarded in recognition of his active participation in increasing FASD-awareness in the community. He has also co-authored/ edited multiple online-book chapters on psychopharmacology and psychiatric syndromes. He has received multiple awards from CCPS and APA for his contributions in organized psychiatry and also California State Senator Award for his diligent community Services in behavioral health.
Dr Padhy achieved his undergraduate degree, MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery), in India and later worked as an Assistant Surgeon before moving to the USA. In USA he was involved in multiple research projects on Medical Oncology (Sharp Hospitals and UCSD) and Psycho-oncology (Stanford University). He completed his training in General Psychiatry at LAC+USC Psychiatry Residency Program and Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Stanford University.
Personally, he likes music, playing percussion, cooking and acting.
