Dr. James Margolis
I have been in the private practice of child and adolescent psychiatry in Sacramento for over 40 years. Working with ADHD throughout the life span has always been a focus for me. In the early 70s I helped start the Sacramento chapter of CHADD. My professional activities have included: Chief of Staff Sutter Center for Psychiatry, Chief of Child and Adolescent unit of Sutter Center for psychiatry and medical director of Sutter Counseling Center. I was the Medical Director of the Serendipity Residential Treatment Center. I have had extensive experience in doing peer review. Early in my career, I was the president of CCPS and have been involved in several national committees for the APA and AACAP and am a Distinguished Life Fellow and Life Fellow respectively.
Currently I am working part-time in two community mental health centers (Well Space Health and Another Choice Another Chance) and consult with three medical review organizations. I also teach at University of California at Davis Medical School, primarily with the Doctoring program.
I have been a member of the National Ski Patrol and Homewood Volunteer Ski Patrol for over 30 years. Activities and awards include: Patrol Director of HVSP, OEC Instructor and Instructor Trainer, Medical Advisor and Recruitment Advisor for HVSP and Eastern Sierra Region, Senior Patroller, National Appointment, Distinguished Service Award and Purple Merit Star Award (saving a life).
Throughout my career, I have dedicated myself to providing patient care, doing volunteer work as a physician and teaching physicians, mental health workers and ski patrollers. I received the Golden Stethoscope Award in 2009 from the Sierra Sacramento Valley in recognition of these activities.
I have a wonderful wife, 4 children and 7 grandchildren that I love dearly and like to share in their very busy lives. Other activities include golf, rowing and wine making.
