Dr. Luz Contreras Arroyo
Dr. Luz Contreras Arroyo was born in Mexico and was raised in Stockton, Ca by a single mother, and is the oldest of four siblings. She went to UC Davis for undergrad and completed medical school at UC Davis School of Medicine. She completed residency training June 2019 from a combined Family Medicine/Psychiatry program also at UC Davis. She was one of two co-chiefs her 5th year of residency.
From the beginning she has been interested in working with underserved populations. She is currently involved with a non-profit medical group, Doctors For Camp Closure, which advocates for the closing of immigration detention centers, as well as advocating for basic appropriate medical care for those held in detention. Additionally, this year she began to work locally at one of Sacramento’s FQHCs, One Community Health, which serves a variety of patient populations; including HIV positive, homeless, LGBTQ, as well as patients with high mental health needs. She is splitting her time between both Family Medicine and Psychiatry and is working in her clinic to improve the integration between the two fields.
Dr. Arroyo is married to her husband of 6 yrs, and they have a soon to be 3 yr old child. She is a big proponent of self-care, particularly for providers. She enjoys reading, travel, spending time outdoors and is working on acquiring gardening skills.
