Dr. Ranjit Padhy

Ranjit Padhy, MD, DFAPA is a Board-certified Psychiatrist trained in General as well as Child/Adolescent Psychiatry; currently serving as Director of Community Psychiatry (Kern Medical / Kern BHRS), and Associate Program Director of General Psychiatry Training Program after serving as Medical Director cum site director of Inpatient Psychiatric Unit at Kern Medical for many years. He is also a Clinical / Teaching Faculty (HS-Associate Clinical Professor) of David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA (Behavioral Sciences) as well as UCLA-Kern Medical Psychiatry Residency Program.
In addition to direct patient care and active teaching, Dr Padhy is active in various research projects including  System Based Advancement (developing and implementing EMR) and improving System Based Education and Services (Integrated approach in relation to various Agencies, Prevention of Med-Psych Recidivism). He has also co-authored/ edited multiple online-book chapters on psychopharmacology and psychiatric syndromes. Over these years, he has received multiple awards in recognition of his active participation in increasing FASD-awareness in the community, Senator’s award for diligent community outreach, APA/CCPS-award (s)for contribution to Organized Psychiatry and Best Faculty award at the training program. 
Dr Padhy achieved his undergraduate degree, MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery), in India and later worked as an Assistant Surgeon before moving to the USA. In USA he was involved in multiple research projects on Medical Oncology (Sharp Hospitals and UCSD) and Psycho-oncology (Stanford University). He completed his training in General Psychiatry at LAC+USC Psychiatry Residency Program and Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Stanford University.
